Intricate staircase and hall runner installations require templates for that professional finished look. This is especially true for spiral or turning pie steps with landings and/or connecting halls. Once the templates have been made, all fabrication work, which includes cutting and edge binding, is performed in our workroom reducing the amount of time in the home. With the exception of Seagrass (not appropriate for steps), all residential carpets manufactured today, including patterns, can be professionally installed on any staircase.

A special note on machine made pre-bordered carpet runners (usually with Persian rug patterns): When it comes to landings we do not join the runner at a 45-degree angle. With the proper amount of carpet, we can perform an installation with the continuous border-to-border look without a very visible 45-degree seam so often seen when installed by others. We can also do the same for turning pie steps and install the carpet with a connecting step-to-step border.

Wilton Carpet Wall to Wall Installations

All Wilton Carpet seams, except an occasional door seam, are hand sewn with Irish linen thread according to all Wilton Carpet Manufacturers' Specifications. This is without exception and includes Wilton area rugs with sewn on borders. Simply put, the 'conventional carpet' hot melt seaming process when used with woven Wilton Carpets will not hold up. Seam failure (unraveling or total separation) usually occurs with the first cleaning, but can occur at any time. Hand sewn seams, depending on the job, will be done either in our workroom or on site. If the job involves travel or overnight stays out of the Charlottesville, Virginia area, we try to do as much seaming in the workroom as possible to save on costs.

With a patterned Wilton Carpet wall-to-wall installation, you have only one chance to get it right. Unfortunately, many floor-covering retailers are selling and installing these special high-end woven carpets incorrectly every day. Turn Key Installations

For the client who doesn't want to do any preliminary preparation for an installation, or for the vacation home when it is difficult for the homeowner to be present, we do Turn Key installations. We take digital pictures of all rooms, including individual tables, breakfronts, movable shelf units, beds, and dressers. Critical measurements are taken before moving furniture so that we put the furniture back exactly the way it was before we started the installation. The photos are used later for reference, when we put back all items, including knick-knacks, lamps, books, china, etc. Finally, the areas are completely dusted and vacuumed.
